Changing table pad on dresser?

Question

So im wondering if I could just get a dresser and put the pad on top of it? Or would that be unsafe? I don't really have the money to buy both a dresser and a changing table. :/

I did a changing pad on a dresser for baby’s nursery. Worked great. Most of them even have a strap with screws that you can secure it to the back of the dresser. You never leave the child unattended on a changing table anyways.

I don't think it would be unsafe. That's how we did it with my nieces when they were babies. Baby shouldn't be left unattended on the changing table either, so I don't feel like it would be that different. I've rarely changed a baby on a changing table anyway, so I wouldn't want you spend the extra money on a changing table.

if you use offer up or even facebook marketplace or mom groupchats  are always giving changing tables away for free or for cheap. I bought mine from offer up still good condition from someone for $25 and just bought the pad new. I didnt think i even wanted it or needed it but its a lifesaver and i used it everyday. If not there would be so many accidents on the bed lol.

I did that. It’s still there and my son is almost 3. He climbs up there himself. Not that he needs up there, but he likes it some days. We can use it for the new baby. It’s not like you’ll be leaving baby unattended so totally fine.

For sure.  We have done it with both.  Actual changing tables are so “extra,” in my opinion!

Ikea has a special dresser with a changing pad which you can easily attach and then take off. I suppose other store should also have similar solutions...
We have our changing pad on a desk 🤣 it's just enough space, I'm always there with the baby anyway. Amd we've cleared few drawers so we have space for small clothes there 😆

That's what I did for our room. Was just put the pad on our dresser. If you're looking for one in the nursery they do have dresser/changing table combo and the rails that support the pad come off.
