Anyone else dealing with this? It’s a neural tube defect affecting the brain (like spina bifida but of the brain not the spine). It wasn’t seen, or missed, on her prenatal ultrasound. And my pediatrician missed it until I pointed it out at her 4 month visit. I had just though her nose was asymmetric or that it was a cyst, but it’s actually a pocket of cerebrospinal fluid in her nostril that is coming from her brain through a hole in her skull. We need an MRI under general anesthesia and then we meet with a neurosurgeon. The surgeon has already talked to my husband and said we should prepare ourselves for the possibility of her needing a craniotomy. This has been quite the week since we found all this out at our ENT appointment last Friday for what we thought was going to be a cyst. Anyone had to put their LO under general anesthesia, or gone through a craniotomy, or other major surgery, yet?
