Did my husband develop Stockholm syndrome
I'm gonna be talking about my husband's trauma and it's extremely gruesome so this is a trigger warning..
Me and my husband married young because I was pregnant. 17. His family sent me away to live his other family on a ranch and he would work at the family farm and sent me money and come visit once a month. We were young and it was better than being homeless so we did that. I saw my hubby once a month which means our daughter only saw him once a month. I got a job as a house keeper and saved every penny so I could have enough to get our own place and be a family. I had no idea what was happening back at that farm. The farm was actually left to my husband by his step dad but he was a minor so his older step brother had it until he was old enough. His step brother was always jealous of how close my husband and his step dad were. My husband slept in the tornado room. And his step brother would come in there and rape, beat, and torture him. Every single day. When I would see my husband he would look weaker and weaker. He never let me see him without clothes or have sex with him. He now tells me the story. His step brother would burn him and rape him and try to drown him while raping him. He smashed a screw through his foot. He stabbed him in the eye... My husband was at one point branded..... His step brother branded his initials into my husband's thigh. My husband said one day he gave up fighting and thought maybe he deserved this. And this was how he was supposed to live his life. He stopped screaming during the rape.... He stopped fighting. He said after 3 years of this he grew a weird attraction to his step brother. He would "consent" to sex. He wouldn't cry during rape anymore. If his step brother kissed him, he kissed back... He doesn't understand it. His step brother is in prison now on a 17 year sentence because of everything he did to my husband. My husband has been free of him for 3 years and it hasn't been easy in the slightest. My daughter constantly sees her daddy in and out of mental hospitals. My husband isn't the same person. He's a mentally broken person. He just got out of a mental hospital a few weeks ago and for the first time he told me about the odd attraction he got to his step brother after 3 years of being raped and tortured.... I'm wondering. Is what was happening Stockholm system? Did my husband fall in love with his step brother? Is he still in love now?...
