Christmas ideas?!?!

Question

What is everyone buying their kiddos? Or wanting to buy? What traditions does your family have for the Christmas season, what is something new you’re doing this year, what is something you’re changing? What do YOU want? What about your partner? Just give me all the Christmas dets 🤩, I know Halloween and thanksgiving are first, I’m jealous of anyone doing a Halloween party!

Every year I do a Christmas Eve box each for my children. Inside are matching pjs, fluffy socks, cookie decorating kit, some bubble bath, hot chocolate cones and a Christmas bed time book. We also have a key that we hang on the door for Santa. So at night we bath, put our matching jammies on, hang the key out and sprinkle ‘reindeer dust’ on the garden (it’s just seeds so the wildlife can eat it) then we decorate our cookies and snuggle up with Christmas movies and hot chocolate before leaving a cookie and milk out for Santa and a carrot for Rudolph. Then it’s bedtime with a Christmas story. As far as Christmas presents go, my children write a list (my 2 year old just points to pictures in a magazine) we send that list to Santa and see what he can do 😂

We're staying home this year. I'm baking gluten free vegan gingerbread houses for everyone to build at their homes and we'll have a contest over Zoom. The packages will have a small gift, a 3D printed ornament (courtesy of my husband), a bottle of homemade cider (I'll be making that as well), snacks (my kids have a little nuts and dried goods business going so they'll do that) and a copy of Die Hard with the house pieces and decorations. The prizes are gift cards to different places and one is a Groupon for a wine tasting in Napa Valley. My kids both want expensive gifts (a phone and the other wants a computer 🥴) so everyone is pitching in for them, they're the only grandkids from either side so it'll be achievable this year. I have a silly tradition of hiding a pickle in the tree for my kids to find, whichever kid finds it gets to open a gift before everyone else. It was a made up tradition that supposedly German people did but really it was just a department store trying to sell their over abundance of pickle ornaments 😂 I just like the silliness of it and pickle shapes are easy to make out of felt.

Im due with baby #1 on December 23rd but will be induced early due to gestational Diabetes... this year is going to be very different, we usually go to my parents place on christmas eve and stay the night, we all wear matching pjs and play games... with having a newborn this year my husband and i are going to be staying home and having our own christmas so i can recover but i want to continue the matching pjs trend!

Something we do every year is go to the Hallmark store (actually went this weekend) and let the boys pick out an ornament to put on the tree. We also go to The Pottery Place and paint something. My boys have fun and it has become a Christmas tradition for us.

We spend a lot of Christmas giving back to local families who don’t qualify for financial aid or free Christmas presents for kids. I work with a waitress whose really into vetting which families need assistance and we creat Christmas tree tags asking the public for assistance with food and clothes. We take our kids out and fill a few grocery bags together and explain why we do it (at an age appropriate level). 
We also are big into arts and crafts. Basic stuff you find on Pinterest or Busy Toddler  IG ideas. 
At home we do more family things like reading books, crafting, baking, trying new soup recipes, etc more than anything else. We stick to the gifts of 4 on Christmas Day, all under $50. Which lets our families do more gift wise with toys. In exchange we put money into their college account.

For my kids and niece's and nephews I always get them bathing suits every year, a sweater and crafty stuff. I will also get my kids some small toys (hot wheels, dinosaurs etc), clothes and books.

We are getting our son a dollhouse and an 18" doll. Those are the bigger items, he'll also get a few smaller items...some animal toys and beginner board games, and some books. We are also getting him a highlights magazine subscription and a national geographic kids magazine subscription. 
As for traditions, matching pj's, cookies for Santa, and reading twas the night before Christmas are a must for us. We always pick 2 kids off the angel trees to donate for as well. 
We also watch the Charlie brown special for holidays, that's a carry over from my family growing up. In past years we have gone to my in laws on Christmas day but I think we might be doing the day after starting this year because everyone's got families now. We also do mass either Christmas eve or Christmas day.

Our new tradition just started last year in our new home. Once the tree goes up the flowing morning the boys wake up to Xmas books and themed matching pajamas. We either spend Xmas Eve with one of our parents then Xmas morning at our house then afternoon with the other set of grandparents
