What would you rather your child have.

I chose absent dad. Why? Because children need consistency. So all that see you one minute then won’t see the child again for another two years is out.

I chose absent parent too because usually if they are absent, it’s accompanied by other issues too. My brother’s dad was inconsistent and when he was around, he sold or pawned a lot of my brother’s stuff growing up, or made empty promises to do things with him or buy him things. I remember how heartbroken he always was

When I was little (ages 4-10) my father was to get me every other weekend, sometimes I’d go a month or two without seeing him. And there would be days where he’d say “I’ll come pick her up at 1pm for the weekend” well I would pack and get dressed and sit near the door or window watching and waiting for him to come get me. Eventually 6pm would come around and he would either show up(sometimes) or my mother would tell him never mind. It left me wondering if I made him upset or angry to not want to get me so I would definitely rather a completely absent dad. 
Currently my oldest child’s father is 100% absent. But the father of my other children comes over occasionally for a few hours when he’s off of work(rare). Which is better than nothing 🤷🏻‍♀️

Yeah I think am inconsistent parent is worse feeling wise because then the child always gets their hopes up just to be let down and that takes a huge toll on them. So yeah I'd rather an absent parent then an inconsistent one.

Being let down hurts, hurts even more when you’re a kid. A no show parent after being promised they’d come hurts soo much.

My dad was inconsistent in my life . I rather him just be completely absent like he is now ! The inconsistency hurt more especially being that he was ALWAYS there for my sister and not me . Completely absent is better than inconsistent!

I wish my daughters father was completely absent. She's just constantly hurt by his lack of interest. She knows he doesn't prioritise her and only makes time for her when he's got nothing else on. She doesn't want to see him anymore and makes excuses. 
On the other hand she's been able to come to this conclusion on her own and not been left wondering what their relationship could have been like.

Completely absent. It’s easier for me to just do it myself than try to fire out what I need to do and having the ball drop all the time. 
From experience, I spent most of last year across the country from my husband and had our 8 month old with me. It was super easy because I just knew what I had to do and did it. I wasn’t waiting for anyone to maybe do something or maybe not and not knowing until the last minute.

I was a child of an inconsistent parent. It messed me up so much and made relationships so much harder for me. Many times in my life i have said that i wouldve rather not had him in my life at all
