10/10 Baby Girl Birth Announcement
I finally had my third and final baby. My first two labors were extremely painful as my first was completely natural and took 36 hours of active labor and 2 hours of pushing before my baby boy was born. And my 2nd was 12 hours but he got stuck in the birth canal and was forcefully removed with the vac. It caused permanent damage to my body and made my 3rd pregnancy quite difficult and high-risk.
My beginning labor was rough to say the least. I spent an ENTIRE week having contractions 3-4 minutes apart and they were quite intense and I felt like this was it. My bloody show had happened Saturday 10/2 so I figured it was time to head in. I was only 4cm and 80% effaced. I was not in active labor. They kept me a few hours to see if I would dilate anymore but I didn’t so I got sent home. I felt frustrated because I was in so much pain and there was nothing they could do as I was only 38 weeks along.
I had a check up the following Thursday to see if I had any progression. I had not. I cried to my doctor that the contractions were extremely painful and I didn’t know how much longer I could take it. She was very sympathetic as she understood my pain but they couldn’t augment my labor due to their policy stating no intervention before 39 weeks unless absolutely necessary. And because my baby was perfectly healthy, it wasn’t considered an emergency. She did say though if my contractions were still bad, they could induce as soon as I turn 39 weeks. She was honest with me and told me a scheduled induction most likely wasn’t going to happen right away and that when I turn 39 weeks, call in and head straight to L+D. So that’s what I did.
12:05am on 10/10 at exactly 39 weeks I called in and was sent to Labor + Delivery. The on call doctor who was on knew my file and was on board with what my doctor told me and had to fight the nursing staff to induce me as she saw how much pain I was in. They finally agreed to break my water at 7:30AM. I had an epidural and they had started antibiotics and pitocin at 4am so things were ramping up. 10AM rolls around and I call my doctor in that I need to push and I need to push NOW. She checks my cervix and She rushed to gown up because I was already crowning. This baby was coming out whether they liked it or not.
And with one quick push my beautiful daughter was born at 10:15AM 6lbs 15oz and a whole 19inches long. She is the most beautiful baby I’ve ever seen and I’m so in love with her. Im very thankful for the doctor on call and helping me through a whirlwind experience. It was the quickest hard-labor I’ve done and I’m glad I’ll never have to do it again.
