Cultural appropriation?

I just found out my second child is a little girl! My husband and I both aren’t huge fans of the baby caps with huge bows and came across the “baby top knot” hat (aka turban) BUT I’m worried it could be viewed as insensitive to put my daughter in these as we are both white. I just don’t want to do the wrong thing. 
Anyone have input on this?

I think they are so cute and would def use them no matter what race! I’m not into the whole “only certain races using certain things” like this. But I think it’s nice you’re want to be respectful. These are so dang cute to me!

I have to say no go on the turbans. I don’t agree with them, they’re heavy on the tourist approach. I’m half black and Indian- I won’t even use them for my daughter. Big time cringe.

No. You can use them and teach ur daughter to always be who she wants to be. They’re very cute

I’d say they’re fine, it’s not CA at all. You’re not claiming these to be of your culture. Culture appropriation is taking something from a culture and claiming it as your own. Kind of like if you were to dress your one year old in a Hanbok for their first birthday and claim that’s not Korean culture at all, that’s X’s culture. There’s nothing wrong with buying a hat for your child. It’s not like the hat says “I AM __ CULTURE/ETHNICITY” on the front of it.

Check out KnottyHayven on etsy or the VIP page on Facebook. She makes full headwraps similar to these but different styles rather than the top knot. (She makes topknots also but not as a full headwrap). I can give you a discount code if you'd like, they're great quality and the only things my daughters wear.

My opinion is that those hats are goofy and ugly. I'm glad that I don't even remember them being an option in 2014 when I had my girl.
