Should I report a nurse?

Tayla

Hi lovelies,

Today I had to go into the hospital and have a day procedure done.

I had a flexible sigmoidoscopy which is like a colonoscopy, except in the bottom half of my colon, and a Botox injections for a anal fissure.

Once I was awake, I was immediately moved to the recovery area, where I was sitting for 5 minutes before the nurses sat me up and gave me something to eat and then told me to get dressed and walked me over to be picked up, all up I was awake for possibly 20 minutes before I was picked up by my partner.

The issue I had was when I got hope, I felt like I needed to go to the toilet to enjoy my bowels, and when I did I had what looked like a tampon fall out of my rear end.

I immediately called the hospital and asked them what it was, if it was meant to come out and that due to it coming out I was bleeding allot.

They said it was a sponge they left there, and that it was normal for it to come out and basically brushed me off like I was being paranoid.

My question is at no point did anyone mention to me having a sponge there, talk to me about removal or what to do if I can't remove it.

The worse case scenario could've very possibly been me not knowing it was there and it traveling up causing allot of complications.

I was wondering if there's any point in reporting this to the hospital, because whilst it was a pretty serious issue, I understand the nurses are run off their feet

If anyone has any advice I'd love to hear it as I'm really stuck on what to do.

Thank you all in advance xx
