Anyone else planning a homebirth?

I had a completely unmedicated birth center birth with my first but am strongly considering home birth for this second one. Would love to share this experience with a mama who is also planning a home birth!

I’ve always wanted a home birth. However due to cost and the fact my insurance doesn’t cover home birth, I have only done birthing centers. My mom did 5 home births and one hospital birth. The hospital birth was due to age and increased hemorrhaging. For me, she has been my biggest supporter during my labors. First baby was 10hrs, second baby was 5hrs and last baby was just over 2hrs (unassisted)…my mom was there for each one to help me and my hubby. Tbh, no birthing story has ever changed my mind. I know the Pros and Cons for birthing in a hospital, birthing center and home. I do not want or need medical intervention unless absolutely necessary. But everyone needs to do what is best for them and their baby.

Planning my first homebirth for my 3rd baby! I've done the induced turned csection, then the spontaneous natural VBAC with "medwives" whi treated be awful in the hospital. I have a very wonderful CPM, who very much believes in radical, physiological birth. It's been amazing! So different and so much more wonderful. My first appointment was 10 weeks, I'm going to be 14 weeks soon and she'll be doing a home visit which is SO cool to me!

I am... I had my last two kiddos as water births at a freestanding birthcenter and decided since this is probably our last kiddo I wanted to do it at home though an independent midwife. We had to pay 3,500$ out of pocket (Missouri) and I love how she comes to my house for appointments. I’m already planning our birthspace!!

Planned a home birth with my first, ended up at the hospital with severe preeclampsia. The next two I had at the birth center I worked at and this time I’m planning a home birth again! Couldn’t be more excited, I still work in a birth center, but I’m going to use my previous midwife (CPM). And just to be clear- I am a midwife myself (CNM). Everyone likes to talk about the risks, home birth and out of hospital birth are not for everyone. There are inherent risks. But you can’t ignore the inherent risks at the hospital either (ever heard of the intervention cascade???). It’s important to realize with a trusted provider and a low risk pregnancy home/birth center birth are an extremely valid and safe option! Don’t try scaring anyone because of horror stores you’ve heard third, fourth or tenth hand! If you have concerns talk to your provider, meet with an out of hospital provider and ask ALL the questions. Believe it or not your friends, family, colleagues, etc don’t know everything. Talk to the people who have training, education and years of experience in this area. Trust your body to do what it was designed to do, look at the research yourself!

No way, I had an epidural with my son and no pain meds when my daughter was stillborn last year. Pain was horrific, will definitely do an epidural for this baby. 
My labour with my son was over 40 hours and I slept through the last 6 after I got the epidural. They woke me up to push, was so peaceful and wonderful. 
I’m Canadian so we don’t pay a cent to give birth, I definitely understand Americans wanting to do homebirth for the financial reasons. And in Canada doctors don’t push unnecessary interventions. I wasn’t induced until 41+ 3 for my son. But overall, I definitely prefer the relief that an epidural provided me.

I wanted and planned one for my first.. i got to 8cm and by then i was losing my shit and couldnt cope with the pain and fear so went to hospital to have a natural unmedicated waterbirth. Second birth was 10x easier but planned another unmedicated hospital water birth but had him on the side of the bed on the floor coz I couldnt make it to the pool - easier less painful. But all in all birth is WAY messy and is one of the reasons why I dont really want a homebirth now plus I did hemmorage with my second and now am at risk of that happening again. So each to their own. Now that covid is around home birth is back on the cards especially if the hospitals restrictions are just too much for me. Aint no way Ill deliver wearing a mask.

Honestly I've heard so many horror stories I would rather be closer to medical experts should they be needed.
I wanted a Dula for my first and ended up with an emergency csection. I have high risk pregnancies so not in the cards for me, but it also makes me privy to having heard a lot of senerios that woukd make me too nervous to risk it. Benefits don't outweigh potential risks.

We just made the decision to do a home birth this time! I’ve had 2 in the hospital. I’ve always been interested in the idea, but my mom had several birth complications with me and my siblings. Without my own track record I was apprehensive. But 2 smooth labor and births later, I’m going for it!!
