My husband was raised in a really traditional household. Basically meaning his father did whatever he wanted and his mother tended to the children and house completely.

My husband is not like that, and we split duties pretty evenly. However, I noticed whenever his dad and mom come around, he reverts to the behaviors of his father. I’ve discussed it with him before and he denies it.

So this weekend his parents are here. This morning our 3 year old woke up with my husband. They’re both early risers. My 1 year old and I woke up about 2 hours later at 8:00am.

I walked into the living room destroyed with toys. My 3 year old had a diaper that was from overnight and so saggy it was falling off him. He was crying for both water and food. I was like “you didn’t change him or give him breakfast?” My husband and his dad were sitting there sipping coffee and looked at me like “uh no”. From the moment I woke up I was changing the kids, calming down my 3 year old because they apparently just ignored him for 2 hours, cooking breakfast. I did not sit down once or even pee. I finished making eggs and frozen waffles for everyone. My 1 year old throws his plate across the kitchen. My 3 year old is scarfing down food. I holler at my husband and his dad “y’all come eat or Lucas is going to eat all these eggs”. They were like “well didn’t you make enough for everyone?” I said “I made 8 eggs, but he’s hungry.”

Then my husband is like “why are you mad? You just woke up?”

I’m like “I’m mad because from the moment I woke up y’all have been sitting idly in the living room drinking coffee and I have been WORKING. Y’all are peacefully sipping your coffee while both kids are crawling all over me, I can’t even go pee, no one is even noticing me. It’s like I am invisible when your dad is here.”

He gets hufffy and is like “no one asked you to make breakfast.”

Like okay the kids have to fucking eat? My 3 year old has a rash now on his penis from being in such a soaked diaper. Not to mention he’s potty trained, he just wears one overnight. So they didn’t even ask him to go to the bathroom.
