Do you guys think a relationship can last if the spouse and inlaws cant get along?

I have my own beliefs. I just want to hear other thoughts!

I think it depends on the extent. If they’re constantly actively arguing, no. If they don’t like each other but can be in the same room and be somewhat cordial, yes.

Setting boundaries is a thing. Low or no contact is a thing. Just the partner whose parents they are visiting them is a thing. There are ways to make it work. My in laws are fine, I don’t really care either way. They are nice and we have nothing in common. We see them a few times a year for a day or two and then move on. I could easily see just not seeing them on those couple days and being ok with it. If we didn’t get along and they lived next door, maybe it would be more difficult 🤷🏼‍♀️

I don't get along with my MIL and neither do my kids or husband so, it's not a huge deal because none of us have any interest in being around her. My husband doesn't get along with my dad and gets easily angered by my mother because they were shitty parents and a lot of my health issues stem from them not getting me medical treatment growing up so it's understandable. We do interact with my family more than his but it's not often and everyone behaves. My husband just doesn't talk to them much and they give him his space and time. No one tries to start drama or put me in the middle etc. If EVERYONE acts mature about it, it's possible to have positive interactions or at least neutral ones

It depends on the circumstances. If it’s a spouse/partner being petty and ridiculous, then it might not work out.  If it’s the parent causing the problem, then you may have to limit contact with the parent. Unfortunately, this is a situation where you’ll ultimately be forced to pick a side.

Yes because you are with the spouse, not their family. I am in this very situation (although it's a bit weird now).
My mother in law stopped talking to me in like 2009/ 2008 already over I am not really sure but I feel its because I saw though their narcissistic ways and how badly they treated my husband, and I took him away from them. I was badmouthed to all and sundry, the whole neighbourhood (she worked at the pharmacy and we're a close-ish community here). I was even badmouthed to our boss, when I worked with her briefly.
She didn't come to our wedding, didn't accept any attempts my side to get together to at least talk so I could find out what her problem was, nothing. Same issue with my sister in law, in fact between them they tried to paint me in a terrible light to my husband before the wedding in an attempt to get him to see what kind of awful person I was and stop the wedding.
Despite that, today is our 8th wedding anniversary, and we've been together 18 years in total. We've been very happy keeping his family completely separated.
