If you read a book to your baby, how long will they actually look at/pay attention to the book for?

I feel like people are always saying to read to help with language but my baby only looks at books for less than a minute, maybe 30 seconds or so. Even if I’m just pointing to things and not technically ‘reading’ the actual story…

My baby will start grabbing for the book and trying to put it in his mouth almost immediately 🤦🏽‍♀️ so now I get a couple books and let him chew on the ones I’m not reading. It may seem like they’re not paying attention but keep reading 👍🏻

Depends on what’s going on/how tired she is/etc. but maybe a few minutes at most before she’ll start trying to chew on it or get distracted.

Depends on her mood... she mostly likes to chew on them, but sometimes she'll sit and 'read' for a couple minutes. We always have books around and my 2yo loves them, so I'm sure she'll come around when she's ready.
