Need some perspective.

We are looking to get some lifestyle family photos taken this year. My husband is really causing a stink. Our last family portraits were done outside and the session was $150 and we got the rights to all the edited photos, no purchasing minimum. However, this photographer has been flakey and I don't think she will be available for us this time.

I've been searching, but between session fees and purchase minimums, the cheapest I can find is around $300 😅

My husband says it's too much. He thinks of things in this context: the total cost divided by hours it took. So like, how much we pay per hour of their work. Some of these sessions are only offered for 20-30 minutes, some up to 2 hours. He says he only gets paid $40 an hour and if they expect to be paid $200 an hour they should become a doctor and not a photographer. I explained they spend time editing the photos as well.

He's not willing to pay over $150 and he wants rights to all the photos or at least a decent amount, with no purchase minimum.

At this rate I think we are just going to have to take the damn photos ourselves. 🤦‍♀️
