Pitocin?

I wanna hear about your guys’ experience with pitocin! XO

Pitocin induced contractions were way worse than my natural contractions. My first I was induced using Pitocin and it was awful. I had back to back contractions and only ever made it 7cm after 27 hours of labor, ended up having a c-section. My second I went into labor naturally, I ended up having an unmedicated VBAC. Natural contractions still suck, but not near as bad the Pitocin ones.

Contractions came super fast and hardly anytime in between. They went from “ah I think I’m okay” to “OMG WTF I cannot bear this” very soon. My body did not get time to prepare for the contractions nor their intensity. Not a great experience. I would say do not get induced unless Doctor says it’s medically necessary (it was for me). With natural labor your body gets time to adjust, and oxytocin is released which is the love hormone that helps you get through the labor and to your baby.

I was induced with my first baby at 39weeks and can honestly say that the cervidil pill was worse than the pitocin for me. I was only able to take one dose of the pill as it caused my contractions to be less than a minute apart. I was like that for 12 hours and was not dilating past 1 1/2. After the 12 hours of labor pains and not getting anywhere I asked for the epidural which was heaven sent ! At that point my OB said that since I had the epidural they would start me on pitocin. She explained to me that she prefers to wait until her patients (who elect for an epidural) get their epidural before starting pitocin to avoid them being in unbearable pain. Thankfully the epidural worked really well and I did not feel anything (even up until I had to push).

It was a needed evil for me because my water broke before I was dilated so my baby needed to be out. I don’t have experience with labor with no pitocin but it was intense. I went from fine for hours to I AM DYING PLEASE GIVE ME DRUGS NOW. if I had to get it again I would ask for the pain meds before they even gave me the pit but I will be having c sections for all the rest of my kids so I don’t know.

Wasn’t very painful until my water broke. Then I got the epidural and I felt great. Overall not a bad experience with either of my pitocin inductions.

I have a high tolerance for pain so it was fine for me. I stopped contracting at 9cm so it definitely got things going but it wasn’t bad for me
