Pregnant with IUD?

I have an IUD and sometimes I still get pregnancy scares. I know the percentage of getting pregnant with an IUD is slim to none, but I just wondered if any of you mamas have ever had it happen to you?

What iud do you have? The hormone in the mirena should basically stop you ovulation and the iud stops anything sticking. Copper actually Kills the sperm when it goes in and again stops anything from sticking. So the chances of being pregnant with a coil are very slim. It happens but the chances are very very slim!

IUDs pretty much work by causing a miscarriage every month. IUDs don’t stop the sperm from fertilizing the egg, they stop the egg or are supposed to stop the egg from implanting in the uterus. However, the embryo can still implant sometimes and then the physical obstruction of the IUD causes a miscarriage most of the time but some times the stars align and the pregnancy continues! I’ve had this happen with my friend but the poor baby was delivered around 27 weeks. She served but it was so traumatic for everyone involved 😔 the experience they had alone has made me vow not to use this type of birth control. If you have had multiple scares maybe it’s not the method for you. I’d try something else.
