Question should he be called uncle to our baby?

My sister has a bf that she broke up an engagement 3 years ago and was with him the first time about 4 1/2years. Then they were broken up for about a year and a half and he reached out and crept back in. They were together again without him being around the family for about 2 years as it was awkward nobody cared for him… he just this year in March came back around the family… he seems to have changed a bit still not really a big fan but for my sister and my family for their daughter we are very welcoming to him because we don’t want to push her away. Plus he has been a bit more talkative etc. they have on their fb “in a relationship since 2013” to me that’s weird because their first time around was a broken engagement and nobody liked him at all. So many red flags. It should be the second stone around in a relationship since 2019. . . question is this… should he be called uncle Chris? Or just Chris? I mean she got me and my husband booties for baby and wrote from aunt Olivia and Chris. But idk

My rule is unless married or engaged you don’t get to be aunt or uncle

I don’t call anyone Aunt or Uncle until they are officially married into our family.  My SIL in supposed to get married this year or next to her wonderful boyfriend who treats our kids like he’s known them all since they were born but we still don’t call him uncle just yet.  You just never know what is going to happen and I don’t want my kids feeling like they’ve lost an actual family member.  I definitely wouldn’t in your sisters case if their relationship isn’t historically solid.

I've been with my fiance for 4 years and engaged since 2019 and having our first baby together... And I still don't call myself Aunt to any of his nieces or nephews... Mind you they are all older 16 and 19 but still, I don't force myself on the title... If they chose to call me Aunt, that's on them.

No one gets Auntie or Uncle except family (blood or married). I’m not into the trend if everyone’s “close friends” being aunties and uncles. 
My husband’s best friend was called “Uncle ****” by my SILs kids. Made no sense. And when my husband and him had a huge falling out his sister kept in contact with the friend because of him being “Uncle ****” to the kids. It was super weird and my hubby finally told his sister she needs to cut the guy off. She was upset for the kids (they were only 1 and 3) 🙄

Unless you think it will make waves, Id just call him Chris. Thats what we did with my sister's long term boyfriend. My BIL's girlfriend however we did refer to as aunt because we suspected it would bother both her and my BIL, she had a 'just because we arent legally married doesnt mean" thing going on. My sister and her boyfriend didnt give a hoot lol

My brother and his girlfriend have been together for 5 years so my 2 year old calls her auntie but my teens don’t.  I don’t think the marriage rule needs to be there though because lots of people are committed to each other without marriage and lots of married people divorce after a short time 🤷‍♀️

My BIL is engaged to a girl he started dating in APRIL and he refers to her as “Aunt” to our kids. 
I’d feel weird in her situation, but it doesn’t really bother me. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Well I have 3 brothers and only one is married although the other 2 are in committed relationships and have been with the same women for atleast 5 years, they also all have kids with their partners so even though 2 of them aren't married their SO's are still my daughter's aunt because they will always be around whether my brothers and them split up or not because of the kids. They have also made every effort to be aunts to my daughter they play with her and talk to her anytime they see her, give her just as much love and attention as my brothers do. The one couple probably won't stay together they are very unhappy together but they have 4 kids together and I get along really well with his gf so I'll still keep in contact when they do split up and my other brother just proposed to his fiance last month so they are gonna get married and have zero plans to split up.

Every one who is closed to us is aunt/uncle.  I grew up with out close family near by so all my parents friends were like aunts and uncles to and my sisters so we called them that. Still do. Since that’s how I grew up my friends are aunt/uncles to my kid. We asked them all prior, and some are cool with it, some aren’t. My sisters bf doesn’t want to be uncle so we just call him by his name. I’d just ask him what he wants to be called.
