Advice?

Hey all, I was seeing this guy from the military for two weeks. He took me on dates and it was just great he’s an amazing guy but throughout these two weeks we acted more like a couple (kissing, holding hands, he took me to meet his parents etc).. However, he’s left to deployment and he never mentioned to me about waiting for him until he returns or asking me to be his girlfriend. However, when he left he continued to text me, send me pictures of how he was doing and he would always mention things like “when I come back we’re gonna do this”, “when I come back I want to take you out” and things in that sort. It’s just confusing because I don’t really know what he wants out of this. I just thought he could just come back and meet other girls but he still says that he wants to be with me when he returns. So I’m just confused. Could he just be bored and just wants someone to hang out here in NYC or could it be possible that I became important to him? I’m just confused never been in this situation before and idk if he’s just trying to use me because I know that we couldn’t have a future together since he’s in the military. So idk what he wants. I don’t want to ask him because it’s just a topic to discuss in person and none of this crossed my mind until he continued to text me after leaving and tell me again that he wants to be with me when he came back.
