Does your religion do this?

So I’m in a certain religion and they tend to always tell me not to dwell on problems. To trust in god etc. but these problems have caused me to have a real struggle with day to day life and caused me to have a mental strain. For years I struggled coming in and out of the religion and even though they all said they were there for me when it was time to talk they all said let’s not dwell or just to pray to god. After so many years I was influenced to get mental help by a professional. After I did for a period of time it really helped me. I mean helped me with a drinking problem I had developed by finding the root issue and facing that and coping and the sexual assaults I had endured. Also I had a very toxic upbringing and the professionals helped me to process that in many ways. I would never be back to trying to get closer to god if I didn’t have those professionals helping me along the way. Now that I’m back I’m being a advocate for those people with mental health problems but I’m running into problems like “don’t dwell on that and trust in god”. I fear that this is why so many people aren’t reached because even if they do want to get closer to god they aren’t able to mentally because they tend to feel alone due to people saying those phrases….I’m trying to get some people to see that but they are just a broken record with pray he has all the answers….I wanted peoples opinions with this…cause I know it’s people suffering with mental health that still wants a relationship with god. But they are encouraged to just pray about it. Not saying that it’s not helpful but maybe just maybe like we go to a doctor for sickness we also need mental health professionals to help so we can “walk” again and function… anyone else?
