C Section tips?

I will most likely be having a c section due to history of large babies and the head not fitting through my pelvis this go around. We will try a “soft induction” and if that doesn’t work we will
Go straight into a c section. This will be my first. Any tips? Or honest truths to be prepared for? Pretty nervous 😬

I echo all of the advice given above.  A few things about the surgery that they don’t tell you is the meds during the procedure can make you nauseous (I puked on my anesthesiologist).  Also, uncontrollable shaking/shivers is normal after.  It’s how your body processes the procedure “pain”.  Mine lasted for about an hour which made it tricky to hold baby.
Take it easy!!  Have helpers at home to do a lot of the daily things for you.  My belly band is my best friend.  I also liked tighter leggings hold my insides in lol and high waist underwear that won’t rub on the incision.  
Definitely have a pillow to cough/sneeze.  I also found getting out of bed very painful so roll onto your side and push your body up with your arms not your abdomen.

I’m having my second scheduled c section next Friday. My first one was a BREEZE honestly nothing went wrong. My biggest advice is walk when they give you the okay, I had my c section early in the morning and in the evening they gave me the okay to try and get up and walk for a min and I did. It’s painful but it helped me recover soooo much quicker. Definitely take it easy and take all the help you can get.

Quite often people labor and birth on their backs which is absolutely ridiculous and horrible. When laboring try sitting, walking, yoga ball, even sitting on the toilet helps widen your hips and pelvis. When you go to birth breathe more and push less. Your body was made for birth and you don’t need to push. Definitely be in a more sitting position to breathe baby down while birthing. Ask for a birth bar at the hospital.

My C section experience was a little different, I had one last year February with my twins I remember being very scared and telling the anesthesiologist that I was scared and I can’t breathe. He said ok I’ma give you something and then next thing I remember it was done and they was wheeling me out and I got to hold my babies, I didn’t have the shakes or nothing the only thing that was painful was the Staples in my stomach I could feel it a lot the next day. Making it hard to walk and stand up straight but I knew I had to in order to be able to leave the hospital faster, when I left the hospital 5 days later they removed the staples. After that i was like the energizer bunny my mind was like ok first pediatrician appointment and get insurance for these girls, and then the pandemic hit and I was like I need to get everything my family needs. My mind wasn’t on sitting in the bed recovering because I felt fine now that I’m getting ready to have another C Section in December along with my tubes tied I don’t know how my body is going to react plus it’s not being done at the same hospital as before, and that makes me nervous

Just reaffirming the above, take the stool softeners, take the pain meds. This will be my 4th csection, and I will say yes, take it easy, don’t over do it, however, start to move around, even just little shifting around in the bed as soon as you can. Slow and steady but I have found the quicker I have been up the better it is. For example if you end up with surgery in the morning, by that evening try to carefully be moving. The longer you are so still your body can get kinda “locked up” if that makes any sense, plus it will be a mind thing too being more anxious for how it will feel the longer you wait. Pillows are your FRIEND!!! Take all the help you can get just don’t use it as a reason not to move bc it really only makes it harder later. Again, slow and steady little baby steps. Don’t over do it, my first I over did it and tore internal stitches, complete and utter HELL, I couldn’t move other than to pee for DAYS. Take your meds, even if you think you don’t “need them” you will when you don’t take them, take the stool softeners, keep your incision clean and dry, keep up on your water, and if you can get one get a shower chair for showers so you can sit down and take a nice shower. Also get a belly binder. Take it as easy as possible but you need to move some, just mostly light walking until you get the okay from your dr. Also just a warning if you have to cough or sneeze hold your belly or put a pillow over it because it’s going to feel like your ripping everything open😬

The c section itself isn’t the hard part. You may be shivering uncontrollably. Maybe cold, maybe because of the meds. If you look up at the lights you will see your cut flesh. The anesthesiologist is your bestie. Anxiety was the hardest part for me, but once baby was born I calmed down quite a bit. I can’t tell you much about the epidural. I was in labor and not pain from a needle could compare to the pain of those contractions. 
Now the recovery 🙁
I can’t say this enough. Take your stool softeners.
Take your pain meds. I got a hemorrhoid after mine. Like damn I wish I took that stool softener. I also wish I just took the pain meds. They were making me nervous in the hospital like “it makes your baby drowsy when breast feeding” 
Just take them.
Take it easy…but don’t not do anything. Go on walks. Try to walk a little farther each day. Walking helps speed up recovery. 
I can’t think of much else. We are planning the second one a little early with number two with hopes to beat labor. I labored for 8 hours because people wanted to drag their feet about my blood type. 🤬 but to summarize. The c section was fine. After I recovered I was fine and my stomach looked basically like it did pre pregnancy with just the addition of a act.
It’s the month after that absolutely kicked my ass
