Graduation at 37 +1

Dominique

Hi all! My due date was December 8, and my Luca Grey was born on November 18!

Although my first delivery was pretty easy, this one was not! I was induced at 37 weeks due to cholestasis, so he was a little early.

My sons head was stuck, but they weren’t able to figure that out until he was delivered via c section. I was stuck between 7 and 8 centimeters for 8 hours. My epidural wore off & I was given a high dose of pitocin at this point, so my contractions were coming in very frequently and very painful. The midwife was having me doing all kinds of different positions to try to dilate me more, but it only made my pain worse. I was begging for a c section at this point. They quickly took me back for a c section & that’s when they discovered my sons head was stuck and wouldn’t have been able to make it through. Thankfully, I pushed for a c section even though they wanted to continue doing different positions to try to dilate me more.

Unfortunately, since he was a little early, my son developed respiratory distress syndrome, and had to be taken by helicopter to a different hospital the day after he was born, because the hospital I delivered at didn’t have a stage 3 nicu. He has been in the nicu since November 19. He unfortunately got a small hole in his lung, but thankfully it seems to be resolving in its own! His oxygen is now at 25 (we breathe at 21 for reference) so I’m hoping he will be off of oxygen very soon! I really wished he would be home for thanksgiving, but now I just want him to come home as soon as he can.
