Family XMas Presents Obligations
On the 24th we have Xmas lunch and opening presents at my in-laws. In my family we do presents on the 25th. I would like to keep this tradition in tact, therefore I want to give LO‘s gifts (that I and my husband got her) on Xmas day and just the 3 of us as a family.
My husband says he’s not sure how he’d prefer to do it yet.
Should I just put my foot down on this?
This will be LO‘s 3rd Xmas and my SIL has never given anything to her or even acknowledges her. We’ve always given her kids something on every occasion but I want to draw the line here. I really don’t care how it looks but for me it’s to a point that I don’t want to be the better person anymore and just give!! This to me is a reflection of her ugly personality and by her not giving a crap is that she wishes not to have a relationship.
This obligation to do her children gifts is making me resentful. They are children and are innocent sure but the parents are the role models for setting good examples and I don’t want to reward asshole behavior.
When my child grows older and will Question me why we give gifts to her cousins but she doesn’t get anything from her aunt...how do you explain to a child when they feel left out and not treated fair from their own family?
