I have been through so much with this shitty house I'm renting. So I'm married and my husband has a son from a previous request but I adopted him when he was 4. So he is a teenager but special needs. Hes autistic and blind. He hasn't been doing good in school and we found him a new therapist for him and he absolutely loves him! And they have an amazing school with great special needs program. Well this was all an hour away so we were desperate to find a house in that area. It was literally 2 months before the school year started and we still haven't found a place. Then I found a house on Facebook marketplace. The women was very eager to give it to us. That probably should have been a read flag. She had a husband but my husband used a word to describe him that may offend some of you. Bitch made. To him that is a man who has 0 control in a relationship and just goes with whatever his wife says or does with no objection or choice. And... Yeah that's how her husband was. So first fight we had was over our son's service dog. She acted like the service dog wasn't gonna be a problem then changed her mind after we moved in and tried to charge us a fee and pet rent. Well... Maybe this was wrong and petty but I emailed her the law. You can't deny someone because they have a service dog because that's discrimination. You also can't charge a fee or extra rent. She left us alone about it after that but that's just the beginning with this woman. First off this house started falling apart very quickly. Like my cabinets started falling off. Our toilet would come unglued and slide. And our air conditioning didn't work on the summer now heater doesn't work in the winter. I spoke to her about having these things fixed and her maintenance never came. Finally I just wanted to get my own and she said no. Only her maintenance. Eventually our ceiling started getting cracks in it and she did nothing until it started getting so bad our ceiling fan fell down. Another problem was sewage would randomly fill up my bathtub. I told her about it and she kept saying I'll get to it when I get to it. I said I needed to bath my son and she said "Isn't he like 15" I said he's special needs and BLIND and she goes "Well I wouldn't worry about it since he's not your real son".... I wanted to fight her... But I walk away. So now I was dealing with sewage filling up my tub. Then there floor boards started coming lose. Another thing was me and my son and husband will go outside so he can have sensory time and feel grass and dirt. She would just stare at us and it was weird. I never really understood why and she left a note on our door asking if we could plz watch him because if he dies because of our neglect her property value goes down.... I'm not even kidding. We have never neglected him. This whole house just makes me so mad and I hate staying here. She would also shut off our water anytime she got upset with us. I fought with her about the sewage and she shut off my water. She's done that three times. Also really wanted us to pay rent in cash and now I know why. I paid her cash one time (stupid) and she said she would give me a receipt. Never did. Then tried to evict us claiming we never paid rent. I fought with her and unless we wanted to be homeless we had to pay another 1200 for rent plus 100 late fee. I'm ready to honestly break this lease. Because last night we had more cracks in the ceiling and my son's fan fell and almost hit him and scared him. I can't be in this house anymore. I'm so done. Breaking a lease is a pain in the ass but I'm thinking it's worth it.
