My ex and I go to the same church. We went through multiple breakups. After our latest breakup, he was angry towards me for half a year and would avoid me–I got the church involved to confront him because of his emotional abuse. Now that I brought in a guy friend to the church half a year later, my ex started trying to talk to him. My guy friend and I were in a relationship prior, but had to breakup because we are not the same religion. We still love each other very much and said that if he has the same beliefs in the future, we can be together. As of now, he is still attending our church to seek out my religion.

The word got around to my ex that my love interest and I are "friends" now.

I caught my ex staring at me the other day and he tried to be friendly and say hi to me. Then he started laughing at my jokes, and trying to invite himself to church events that I would go to. And he is still trying to talk to my love interest.. I feel weird about it. Is my ex trying to woo me AND talk to my love interest to get control? Or is my ex genuinely trying to get back with me?

I'm just curious of your thoughts. but know that in either case, I still am very much in love with my love interest and want to be with him
