How much do you tip your hair stylist?

I had my hair done. It was 300. I tipped 65 dollars which was a little more than 20 percent. I keep hearing that that’s crazy and and everyone keeps saying they would have tipped 20 bucks. Isn’t it standard to tip 15 to 20 percent for good service? I keep hearing that it was way to much.

I tip my guy $80-$100. He always goes above and beyond for me so I make sure I take care of him.

I usually tip around 30% occasionally my hair lady won’t accept more then 10$ but I usually try to force 30% 😂 there’s nothing wrong with being a nice tipper especially if you like the work she’s doing

I tip 15-20% but sometimes more around Christmas because I know they are very overworked that time of year. You’re doing it right lol $300 is just a lot to spend on hair to begin with, so then the tip sounds like a lot.

Your top is perfect. 20% minimum. People don’t understand the costs and expenses that a hairdressers have in order to do their job well.. especially in a high end salon.

20% is average, however some people go above and beyond, do we may have more than they are supposed to, they are giving up other clients to do additional things for you, sometimes you just want a little treat, my favorite thing to do is to go and have my hair washed, and then I go and sit in the massage chair, it’s my day of pampering, they charge five dollars or seven dollars to get your hair washed, there’s no way I would tip 20% on that, I always give them a five dollar tip. They spend 20 minutes massaging my scalp, Blow drying my hair, brushing it out, putting in a product if I want it, or a hairstyle a ponytail nothing major obviously. And it’s totally worth it. My bagel guy loves me, he gives me half the store, I always tip them five bucks, he charges me very little, it’s usually supposed to be like an $18- 20 bill, he charges me like 8-10 bucks totally worth it. When people treat me well and go above and beyond, I take notice and appreciate it. People clear their schedule for you, they accommodate you, because they know you were a good tipper people go above and beyond, especially with the holidays, people appreciate the extra money.￼

Yup it’s standard to tip 15-20%. I know my hair dresser well so I usually tip 20 (and she does a great job lol).
