2 month old won’t let me set him down?

Question

Please help. My 2 month old son is very clingy. He wants to be held pretty much constantly… I love my little cuddle bug and I understand that snuggles are a basic need at his age, but I seriously need to be able to set him down to get things done. Ive had to start co-sleeping because he would not sleep any other way. I know it is dangerous but after 5 weeks of no sleep, I surrendered in order for us both to get some sleep…I don’t really know how, but he can tell within 5 minutes that he has been moved to the bassinet. 
At 2 months, he seems to young to make him just cry it out.. I know crying doesn’t hurt him but I don’t think he’s capable of self soothing yet. Ive tried baby carriers and harnesses.. he hates them. He doesn’t even like his play gym because mom isn’t holding him when he’s doing it.
Somebody who has had a super clingy baby, please share your tips and tricks.

First off, I can completely empathize with you. Secondly, I know you already know this, but this is super normal for baby to only want to be held and around you. Cosleeping (baby sleeps in crib or bassinet in parents’ room) is ideal when possible, but bedsharing (baby sleeps in the same bed as mom) can be done safely. Planned bedsharing is safer than unplanned bedsharing, so don’t at all feel bad for bringing baby to bed. Most (if not all) parents will do this at least once because sleep is a basic need for you, too.

I know you said you tried carriers, but what kind? Personally, I have the SleepyWrap (basically the same thing as the Moby and Boba) and the Moby Easy Wrap. It took a LOT of practice and my little one didn’t like it too much until I really learned how to put him in it properly. Once I did, he fell asleep and I could get things done like laundry or even cooking dinner while he sleeps against my chest. The best part about it, is he goes into SUCH a deep sleep against me that I can (usually) transfer him to his bassinet, crib, or pack n play as long as I do it gently and slowly.

My son was like this. I just got a baby carrier and carried him around everywhere…. I weaned him off it easily but it’s easier to wear him and wean him when you feel you have more time rather than try and juggling carrying him and putting him down at once

Breathe, momma! I’ve been in the same exact situation not so long ago.
First off, you can cosleep safely. Do your research, you got this!
Second, it’s gonna get easier overtime. Think about it, your baby is so used to being close to you 24/7 in the womb and now suddenly it’s a big world around them! That’s scary af. Get a baby carrier, it will help you during the day so you can just wear your baby. He’ll be getting more and more independent very soon!

My first babe was like this, find a wrap that he likes and it should help a lot. Also, this isn’t going to last forever, so don’t feel bad about letting things go sometimes. Don’t stress if things aren’t always clean and tidy, let yourself rest and enjoy those snuggles. In a few months he’ll be old enough to sit up in a chair and it’ll get easier ❤️

My son is almost 2 and is still incredibly clingy. But when he was tiny a wrap style carrier is what he preferred rather than the structured ones so if you haven't tried one of those, I would. Also, it can take a few minutes for them to warm up to the carrier, so just because he fusses/cries when in it, try to keep him in and he will probably calm down pretty quick
 Just start doing whatever it is you need to do. If you're okay with it, tummy time can be done on you, it doesn't have to be the floor. You can either bend you legs and place baby on their tummy with head above your knees, do it in front of a mirror if you can, its more entertaining. Or you can lay reclined and ha be them on your chest.

My son was like this as well. We realized it's the change in temperature. Before laying him in his bassinet, we put a space heater by it for about about an hour and make the transition from our arms to the bassinet quick and smooth. And honestly my son is 10 weeks and I cosleep. I put him down in his bassinet bur when he wakes up in the middle of the night the only way he'll fall back asleep is breastfeeding while lying next to me. We'll correct this eventually but not now. We also set the mood lol. We have classical piano or jazz (My sons an old ass man at heart), the heater, and a Himalayan salt lamp. Another thing I realized is my son loves the sound of rain/shower and I think it's bc between that, the heater and the dim pink light tjays as close as back in the womb as he's gonna get and it soothes him. I've tried about everything in the book bc I was in your shoes so I gone these suggestions help!
