My “what if” ..What to do?

What do you do if you announce your pregnancy to the world and then shortly after have a miscarriage? 
I am 9 weeks pregnant and I’m planning to make my announcement on my Christmas card that I send out this year. Problem is that my brain can’t stop with the “what if” of it all. 
I guess I’m wondering how others handled it in this instance? … if you miscarry after announcing.. do you have to tell everyone that you miscarried? Do most people just never say anything and then let people figure out on their own later that you miscarried? 
I know I’m overthinking it but I think I’m trying to protect myself just incase things do go wrong after announcing.

1. If and big IF you do miscarry then you will have incredible support from people because they will be aware of your situation
2. Telling people isn’t going to stop the inevitable IF that happens. 
I told close friends and family when I was 7 weeks pregnant then I miscarried at 9 weeks and although I felt awful at first because I felt like I had caused all my family great sadness by telling them early.. in the end I was so grateful for their amazing support. The choice is completely up to you but I do not regret telling people early. It doesn’t jinx anything for you! ❤️❤️

If you announce the pregnancy, yes you should announce the loss, maybe not immediately but dont leave it open to confusion. I wouldnt feel.comfortable with that, so I told just family and best friends and waited a bit for an open announcement. But if youd be comfortable sharing your loss, then thats a different situation.

I think 9 weeks is safe to announce. By Christmas you will be almost 12 weeks. Honestly there is never a 100% guarantee that a baby will make it to the end even if you go through first trimester well.  Or that a child will survive to adulthood. I think tell them. If it happens, they will support you. I know 3 people who waited to say anything but when they lost, they still told everyone. So you might end up telling anyway. 
Think what if you don't miscarry and you didnt enjoy sending out your cards as you had always dreamt. 
Of you could announce to only people you are sure you would tell if you had a loss and get the others different cards.

We miscarried in February and hadn’t told anybody we were expecting. We then actually ended up telling people afterwards as we needed the support and to be honest- it really helped. I know everybody is different but if you’re telling people you are close to, you may well want to speak to them if anything did happen anyway (although I hope it doesn’t!) we’re 5 weeks pregnant again now and I’ve been pretty open with people and it feels good x

I am one of the unlucky ones who miscarried after I had a 12 week scan.
Heard heartbeat, saw baby move… we told everyone.
By 13+3 Bub had passed. I had a D&C, Bub was tested, they found nothing wrong. No explication.
I did go on to have two healthy children.
Now we tell once we’ve had that first scan at 8w.

Honestly, there is no “safe” time to announce. I announced my pregnancy in 2019 to extended family at 13 weeks. Unfortunately 2 weeks later, I had a miscarriage, so I was 15 weeks. I was well past the “safe zone”. Telling everyone about the loss after I had just told them about the baby was definitely hard. Some people didn’t know what to say and just stayed distant. Some people really embraced me and supported me through it. This time around, I announced at different stages, and some people still don’t even know I’m expecting (I’m due Jan 7). I said all of that to say, do whatever makes you happy. Try to push the “what if” behind you. At this moment right now, you are growing a wonderful new life and that should be celebrated. Tomorrow may be different, but it also may not be!

I miscarried at 11 weeks. I had a trusted friend tell people at work for me sip no one asked me. When I was ready I explained on social media.
