Husband taking PPTO off for bonding time ?

My husband is taking bonding time to help with me with our baby girl ( Jan 2022) & our son who is four  . I’m suggesting 2 weeks off but wouldn’t mind if he stay for the full 6 weeks . What are your you thoughts on this ? With our son he stayed home on PPTO for 2 months and helped me tremendously especially with night time feedings & allowing me to have mommy time while he spent time with our son .

If he’s getting paid, he should take off what’s allowable. If he’s not, he should take off what y’all can afford for him to take.

It’s so important. He should take as much time as he can. With my first child, my SO took zero time off. I was completely alone the day after giving birth! This time my SO took a month, and it still wasn’t enough, but way better for all of us

I would suggest more rather than less since you never know what can happen and you will have your hands full. I had a planned c-section - restrictions are 6 weeks, including not lifting my 30 pound toddler. My last one I recovered quickly so we figured 4 weeks should be fine. My husband actually took 5 (because of family coming in), but here we are at week 5 and I'm dealing with incision issues. He just put in a request to extend to 6 weeks.

If he is getting paid, there is no reason not to take the whole thing. Depending on how it’s paid, he may also be able to break it up into different chunks of time. At my company, both parents have to take 6 weeks following birth, but are free to split the remaining 14 as they see fit. Some people use all the time at once, some take Thursday/Friday off each week, some work half days until it’s used up. See what he’s able to do, but yes, if it’s a paid benefit, there is not reason to not use it all.
