He said he’d slap them?

I was playing the sims and in my game I have a toddler. The toddler needed his diaper changed but he kept saying no and wouldn’t let me change it. I joked with my partner about how I just had to let him sit in his shit 😅 and he says that he would’ve slapped him. I asked if he meant a sim or a real kid and he said both.. is this worrying? And no, he’s not joking. He was beat as a kid and says that he would beat/spank (for discipline) his own children. I have told him before that that’s not how I want to raise my children. Could this be an indication of his future parenting?

- we’re not currently trying to have a baby but we do talk about the future. He won’t just randomly hit a child but he does say that beatings/spankings is discipline and is sometimes needed. I don’t agree. He said he’d try the gentle parenting approach with me but I don’t know how true that is, especially with comments like these.
