How do you celebrate Santa if you do?

Question

I know this can be a heated subject but there is no right or wrong, I appreciate all views of the subject and ask that everyone is respectful of our peers beliefs and traditions. 
I personally am going to do Santa Claus in untraditional fashion, the whole story of Santa in the north pole will be presented as a story and the seasonal activity’s that come with it can be like a game of pretend. When my son gets older I’d like to teach him the different ways Santa is viewed around the world and if he’s interested even participate in different Christmas traditions that go with Santa Claus.

We celebrate the traditional way. Santa brings an unwrapped gift and fills their stockings. I don’t like big gifts or “hot” gifts coming from Santa because every family does celebrate different and has different views on gift giving and there is also the financial component. We don’t make an emphasis on naughty or nice because I could never follow through and leave my child coal. So far, my kids haven’t seemed that “into” Santa, but they are still pretty young. My 5 year old can’t even remember what she wants to ask Santa for half the time. 
My husband grew up with St. Nick filling stockings in mid-December with candy and all gifts came wrapped from Santa. I remember our first few Christmas celebrations with his family were so different as his younger brother had a ton of gifts but they were all from Santa. For me, it takes the personalization out of gift giving. Gift giving is my love language and I put a lot of effort into things I pick out for other people. I’m not giving Santa credit for special gifts I buy my kids.
We have decided to follow the traditions that I grew up with as my husband said they seem more special. He also thinks it’s important that our kids know that Santa is not the only gift giver. We have also started our own tradition of gifting the kids an ornament for the tree which they open the night out tree is decorated.

We’re doing the same as you. His presents he already knows are from ourselves and relatives. He just sees him as someone that comes along with season and we don’t plan and idolizing him or putting the thought of Christmas and presents together etc. even though neither of us are super religious. I just feel like we personally don’t want him idolizing anyone or anything because that can continue as he gets older and we wanna avoid it.

We’ll do it in the traditional way. I am doing that santa brings smaller gifts, not a big expensive item. I love the magic behind Christmas in both the religious and Santa ways so I’m trying to find a happy medium.

We’ll celebrate in the traditional way as well and I’ll let him believe for however long. We’ll leave cookies and milk out, write a list, we read The Night Before Christmas on Christmas Eve. I don’t know about the whole naughty vs nice aspect and my parents never made a big deal about that part? We’re also religious so we’ll teach him the meaning of Christmas (what we believe) and we’ve always went to Christmas Eve service.
