Pets after kids

I know I can’t be the only one, but I’m posting anonymously because people get nasty when you talk about not being a pet person.

I have a 3 year old and am 7 months pregnant. I still feel good, I still have energy, but y’all, I am so done with pets. We have an outdoor cat who comes in on cold nights, she’s not really a problem since she prefers to be outside on her own unless it’s too cold. We feed her and she just chills on our patio furniture and roams the neighborhood. She’s very low maintenance, and since she’s outside 95% of the time, there’s no litter box. She’s fine.

My dog though... I can’t deal with her these days. She has attitude that rivals my threenager, and on top of that, she doesn’t sleep through the night. She’s up a few times a night wandering around our room, her little nails clacking on the floor as she makes her laps. Sometimes she wants to go out, other times she’s just walking around. Sometimes we get up and put her outside, then later we step in puddles of cold pee. We’ve started putting her in the kennel at night so she doesn’t roam around and pee wherever she wants, and sometimes she’s fine with it and other times she’s not. Tonight she refuses to sleep in the kennel, she just keeps whining and scratching at the floor. I can’t deal.

My toddler has slept through the night since 8 weeks old. This dog, on the other hand... Lord give me strength and patience. She has been SO AWFUL lately. I don’t need practice waking up every few hours with a newborn, that’s not something anyone needs to practice for so FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, GO TO SLEEP AND LET ME SLEEP WHILE I CAN.

We will never, ever, EVER get another pet. Ever.
