What is the ideal age gap between the 1st and 2nd child?

I had my first in May 2021 and we want one more. After 2 children our family will be complete.

Mine are 4 years apart (ages 4&6m)and I love it. The oldest is so helpful, no signs of jealousy, and loves being an older sibling.

The ideal is different for every family. My ideal is 4-5 years. Other families really love 2 under 2.

I would not give a time frame. As long as your body can manage another pregnancy, you can go for it. Some wait until a year, 2 years or even months after giving birth. For me, you can wait until your body is able to manage another pregnancy after giving birth to the first child.

we found out we were pregnant with #2 on our first kids second birthday.  So my boys are 2 years 9 months apart. It's been a good age gap for us. Our first was fully potty trained by the time we had #2 so we only ever had one in diapers.

Mine will be 5 years apart and it’s been really exciting so far. My daughter understands what’s happening and is really excited for baby brother and to be a big helper. I’m excited because she will be in school and I’ll get to have alone time with the baby during the day and be able to relax and recover.

i was just thinking about this. mine will be almost exactly 3 years apart (i’m currently 34 weeks pregnant with baby #2) and i’m
thinking i should have done this sooner. my son is at a really tough age ... demanding, bossy, refuses to listen, hitting, etc. and i don’t have the stamina to deal with him at this point in pregnancy. i feel like he was easier to deal with like 6 months or a year ago so maybe it’s better to have them closer in age. i dunno or maybe the grass is always greener?

My kids and 19 months and then 2 years apart. 2 years has goners smoothly in a lot of ways, but it’s still a challenge. From where I’m sitting (especially on the hard days), a 3-4 year+ age gap seems luxurious and easy! 😍 But I guarantee that has it’s challenges, too. Just different ones. Fewer issues with so many so little depending on you for so much (my 3 are all under 4 right now 🤪), but more issues with learning how to cope with a sibling (or another sibling), not getting as much attention when you’ve had it for so long, etc. My kids don’t know what it’s like to NOT have to wait when they need something ... that never happens 😂

My 1st and 2nd are 21 months apart and I love it. My 2nd and 3rd will be 19 months apart. It’s hard but I love how close my 2 girls are already
