Your best advice for kids of all ages?

Question

Were gonna be fostering after getting certified in a few months. Were open to all ages (but unfortunately can't foster highly disabled kids because of my own disability and my physical limits for lifting and whatnot)
So im just looking for general advice from parents of what works for your home?

We have been foster parents for about 18 months. We have had one sibling placement of 2 during that time and still have them currently. Trauma informed parenting is definitely important. You have to advocate for the kids at school, with DHS, their providers, etc. You have to suspend "normal" expectations at home in terms of behaviors and routines.  Working with parents and caseworker is by far the most frustrating and hard part. Document everything - absolutely everything.  Feel free to PM me if you'd like to talk more details/ask questions!
