Let him cry it out for my 9 month old baby?

Question

So posted this in another group already but I'm desperate for some advice. I'm going crazy here and don't know with to do with my 9 month old anymore!
He's always goes to bed and took naps fine before this! Now suddenly he's fighting it doesn't want to take the bottle. 
I decided to try the CIO method and he's been crying for 30ish to 45 minutes. How much longer will he cry before he wears himself out?
He's been eating fine and playing like he normally does, but when it comes to naps he just loses his shit! 
He had an ear infection a couple weeks back but I got a prescription for it; and even when he had the infection he went to bed easier then he does now. I'm gonna make an appointment to see if it didn't completely go away. 
But until then, what do I do? I tried going in and calming him but he just thinks that I'm gonna take him out of the crib and when I don't he just continues to cry.
Edit: Thanks for all the comments. I'm a FTM here and haven't tried the CIO method before this. My SIL does the CIO method with all her kids and it's always worked fine for her. 
After I posted this I went and got him out of his crib and nursed him to sleep (even tho my supply is completely gone. It alway worked to nurse him to sleep when he was younger.) He slept for a half hour and was up again. I think he was way overtired and also teething and going through sleep regression. 
I've learnt my lesson and won't be doing the CIO method again. At least not for that long.

30-45 minutes is so excessive. He’s crying because he needs you. 
He needs comfort. He’s only 9 months old…

Well I wouldnt let him cry that long.   It may just take time.  He may be going through a leap which can make everything and it's likely a phase that will run its course soon.   If you do the cry it out I go in ever 5 min and calm them and then try again.   You don't really want them to cry above a fuss  if they get too upset your just working against both of you.

As others have said, 30-45 minutes is excessive. When sleep training my kids, I’d let them go 5 minutes max. After that point, if they do stop crying and go to sleep it’s out of pure exhaustion, not because they’ve learnt to self soothe. 
They go through a major sleep regression between 8-10 months, so that could be causing the sleep disruption. During regressions isn’t the best time to sleep train. Wait until things settle down a bit and try again

This happened to us right around 9 months. It was a HARD time for us. We reduced the amount of time she slept during the day from 3 hours to 2.5 hours. We tried CIO but it made things worse. Instead we decided to take the opposite approach and gave her what she needed, which was us. Dragged a twin mattress in to the room and laid next to the crib and slowly, each night,  we moved the mattress farther away. I sang to her, made shushing noises and would just say “mommy’s here” when she started getting anxious. It meant more work on our end but we didn’t mind if it meant taking the stress off her. The reason we started doing this is because she started to freak out when she knew it was bedtime. This told me that she was having a negative association with bedtime which I assumed was from CIO because it made bedtime so stressful for her. We wanted her to associate bedtime and her crib with good feelings and feelings of being safe. 
Flash forward to now, she’s 17 months and she goes to sleep for naps and bedtime within 10 minutes with ZERO crying or fussing. It’s been that way for awhile now with the occasional regression due to teething. Now we’ll say “it’s bed time” or it’s nap time” and she’ll say “ya, ya, ya, ya” while happily walking to her room to begin our routine 😆 
I’m not bashing CIO. It really does work for some babies. But it isn’t the ONLY way. There are other methods you can try if CIO doesn’t seem to be working or if you are uncomfortable with it. Good luck Mama!

We did the Ferber method (gradual extinction) at 7 months old and it worked for us. There's an app that does the timing for you. Crying time decreased every night, and stopped by night 5. Now we check on him if he cries longer than 15 minutes (very rare). He puts himself back to sleep during teething, regressions, and boogers. He protests a bit before naps and bedtime sometimes, but it never lasts more than 5 minutes.

Cry it out method isn’t a natural state for a baby to be in. I personally don’t agree with it, it’s rises the babies flight to fight response and causes them a lot of stress. The most beneficial thing you can do is comfort them even if that means helping them go to sleep. I think if you’re trying to encourage them to get to sleep independently a good method is putting them in there cot when they’re sleepy but still awake. Slowing easing them into it. Sending love 💜

If your gonna let him cry it out do every 5 mins to start. I’ve always been one to cry it out because my 2 and half year old refuses sleep. Hates sleeping, won’t nap, still wakes up all night. He just does not like to sleep always wants to get up and play. I usually let him go down and if he’s crying I’ll give it 5 mins and go in there pat his back hold him etc and then lay him down and if he keeps crying do the same cycle. If he’s going on over an hour I spread it apart mor to like 10 mins. A lot of people won’t agree with me but some days I’m at my wits end I’m going insane and he’s already a very wild kid and it gets chaotic. I try everything to make things calm but he’s very hyper. So when he won’t stop crying I’m going insane so yes I let him do the cry out method. He will usually fall asleep fairly easily. Of course he has his nights it takes longer but for the most part it’s okay. I would try that! Don’t do 30 mins at a time. That will make you go crazy more and he will feel like you aren’t gonna comfort him. Sorry it’s rough! I understand :(

I think that’s too long. I haven’t done the crying out method for any of my children. Longer than 10 minutes too long. You want to build it up. You don’t want them to get to that point of crying so long they fall asleep because who wants to fall asleep like that. That’s not self soothing that’s I’ve learnt that no matter how much I cry I’m going to be ignored.

Both my kids (6 years & 10 months) are SH!T sleepers. I rock and nurse my 10 month old to sleep every night then lay him in his bed and the  lay with my 6 year old until she falls asleep, it’s a pain and some nights I wish they’d just go to bed but I would never use the CIO method..
