Measuring small

Hi ladies

So I had the anatomy scan today, but I was told baby girl is measuring three weeks too small and that there is a chance she won’t survive. The Doppler and vitals all looked great on the scan though. Anyone dealt with this? I just plan on upping my protein and taking it easy

My daughter was measuring behind 2 to 3 weeks throughout my pregnancy. The doctors thought there was something wrong, but there wasn't. She is just small. Born at almost 38 weeks weighing 5 lbs and 12 oz. Now at 19 months she is still small in the 5th percentile, not even 20 lbs. She's perfectly healthy. My husband and I are also very small people.

I understand. I was a wreck when they told me they thought something was wrong. Have hope. It really could be nothing.

Thank you for your response. My other two girls were around 7 pounds each. Just went into emotional state when the doctor said there’s a chance she won’t survive. I was referred to a Specialist for another scan so we’ll see

Not good 😞 Femurs specifically are measuring way too small. She’s less than 1% of where she should be measuring. Could be a possible genetic disorder (not hereditary, just the way she formed). The doctors haven’t seemed hopeful that she would make it. My heart is breaking. Her heart rate is perfect and she moves like crazy

Has she been measuring on track so far? What about your bloodwork - your AFP? Last year my AFP bloodwork came back high which indicated an issue. Could have been a neural tube defect or a kidney issue - but very elevated AFP can also indicate fetal demise. I saw a high risk Dr who did a sonogram on the Tuesday - baby was measuring 17 weeks but I was almost 20 weeks. The baby was fine during the sonogram - great vitals, no detects visible etc. I went back to my regular OB on the Friday, explained what the specialist said. OB did a Sono and my baby was gone. He had been measuring fine up until then but the AFP was absolutely the first indicator that something was wrong.

Looks like the femurs are measuring way too small. She’s less than 1% for her measurements. Not feeling very hopeful 😭

Normal bloodwork and blood pressure. She has been measuring on track this whole time. Not really sure what it all could mean 😞 Seeing the specialist today

This is also my worry! I would try to stay positive for your baby. I’m sure everything will be fine. How much weight have you put on so far may I ask?

I haven’t put on much…maybe four. I had the stomach bug and a respiratory infection all in the last month which really put my body under stress. Don’t know if that has something to do with it
