Is it safe to go?

*I’m not asking for people’s general opinions about covid. I respect those that feel covid shouldn’t stop normal life and other opinions along those lines, but that’s not what I am looking for. In my situation, I have two tiny lives that depend on me, so I have to prioritize them*
I have an 8 month old and I’m currently 22 weeks with a high risk pregnancy. My doctor told me that me getting covid would be scary, especially considering I am high risk because my other little one was premature and they never determined why. About 11 days ago, someone in my SO’s family tested positive after she had someone out of state visit with her. I assumed (since his family is usually very cautious about covid) that she would be uninvited. But today, another family member let me know that she would be attending and would be re-tested. I know she is past her quarantine date and she’ll be retested. But because I am high risk and our little one is so little (and struggled really bad with even just a common cold a month back) it makes me paranoid still

I was low risk. My pregnancy was going perfect. I had a growth scan right before I got covid and my baby was doing amazing. 
Then I went into preterm labor at 36 weeks pregnant with placental abruption due to severe covid infection. I had an emergency c-section. My son was in the NICU and almost died. I was hospitalized and separated from him and almost died. 
From the bottom of my heart, I would recommend not opening yourself up to the risk of going through what I did. It’s just not worth it.

Maybe it’s not her, but could be someone else. If you’re high risk, I wouldn’t be going anywhere that isn’t having everyone tested. Not worth the risk.

I think the risk isn’t the person being retested but everyone who isn’t tested. I wouldn’t attend any family gatherings if I was in your shoes.

The person who tested positive is the least of your worries. They can test positive up to 90 days following infection, but the likelihood of reinfection for them or them passing it on to anyone else is low. The question to ask is whether or not everyone else in attendance will get tested before the event, including your household. Will people wear masks? Will there be social distancing? Is everyone fully vaccinated? Have they had boosters? If the answer to any these questions is "no", then maybe consider sitting this one out.
I contracted COVID during my pregnancy when I went to visit family last Christmas, and it wasn't fun. Thankfully, everything worked out, but it's not a risk I'd willingly take again.
