Lifestyle revamp: where to start?!
Long story short: I have a 4 year old son who has struggled with asthma, allergies, and eczema his whole life. He has a cow’s milk allergy and we do pretty good about avoiding it. Thankfully, his reaction is not too severe so if he does have some at daycare or something he may develop a rash.
He and I are on Christmas break for two weeks and he has developed a serious outbreak of eczema/dairy allergy rash. We saw every hour on the clock last night because he could not sleep from all the discomfort and itching. It breaks my heart and I feel that there has to be more we can do than medicate and treat symptoms when they arise. We have done it all: he has special pajamas to wear that are more breathable, we have prescription ointment and medicine for outbreaks, we do “bleach baths” and wet wraps (doctor recommended), and we are scheduled to see a new allergist on January 4th. We avoid dairy as much as possible, and he is such a picky eater that he really only sticks to the same foods all the time.
My point in posting this is that I am exhausted and done with him feeling uncomfortable and sick from this. I want to do something radical at this point and revamp our lifestyle: products we use and foods we consume. But where do I start? I feel so overwhelmed and blind to all of this.
I am also 22 weeks pregnant and want to have a better plan in place for when this baby arrives. I want my little family to be healthy and thriving and not subject to so much illness and discomfort.
