Am I mean?

Question

Long story short. I've asked my in laws not to kiss my 6 month old baby. They never listen. Everyone has been sick on thier side for weeks. I told my husband to please remind them again for Christmas. Sure enough my mil kissed my baby a few times right in front of me. I waited a min or two and took my baby away. I didnt express my anger, but I also didn't give the baby back. Now I think she's mad at me. Am I mean for not allowing my in laws to not kiss for Christmas? My husband said to let it go bc sometimes people can't help themselves bc baby is so cute. But my family doesn't and respects my wishes,  so its possible. Please comment honestly if you have anything to add bc I think I started a family riff. Thanks.

FLU. RSV. COVID. You’re NOT mean. You’re protecting your kid from rampant viruses. Stand your ground. You DO NOT want to deal with a sick baby.

Not mean. We made an announcement to everyone no kissing baby especially on the lips. Prefer not even on the cheeks or hands but won't get as upset compared to lips. 
It's not just about covid, there are so many risk associated with kissing on the lips especially on a child building an immunity.

If anyone, family or not, does not live me and my child enough to respect the boundaries I’ve put in place to protect him, then they have lost the privilege of being near us. 
My boundaries are there for a reason, you don’t have to like them, but you do have to honor them.

No one outside me and babes father has ever kissed my babe. It’s really not a big deal. Babies are at risk of RSV, Flu, COVID, and herpes to name a few.

I completely understand this! I'm only 30 weeks and at my recent dr appointment,  he advised me not to hug/kiss many people over the holidays because of the risk of flu/covid. We told both families this and my husband's family completely ignored it..I tried to give fist bumps instead and they just laughed and hugged me. 
So from that, I have already talked with my husband about not having visitors in the first weeks around the baby and that we should limit touching and holding. We are our baby's voice and however we feel is right to protect them, even if it seems overboard to others, should be respected.
I would feel the same way as you if people already knew I was uncomfortable with them kissing her and  they did it anyway.

Nooppppeeeee! She knew what she was doing, she can be mad at herself for not respecting your decisions. First it's this then next it'll be something and and eventually she'll be walking all over you. You gotta have that talk with your husband and let him know that you don't appreciate being disrespected by her. Y'all are supposed to be a team and he's gotta have your back.
