Well-padded play pen for 7-month old

Irina

Hi everyone! 😊 My baby is only just learning to sit unassisted and falls constantly. She isn’t crawling yet, but does roll, so she needs plenty of floor time. We have hardwood floors and two medium sized dogs, I’m looking for a play pen where I can sit or lay her down and be confident that she won’t hurt herself even if she topples from a sitting position and where no dogs can accidentally bump her. (They’re well-behaved and sweet, but an extra set of guard rails would ease my mind).

We have this:

…but I would like something that will fit an adult as well so that we can hang out together.

Any advice would be appreciated! 😊

It’s totally ok to have a padded playpen and provide a safer area for baby to be in 😊 what I caution you against is going overboard (not saying you will but I’m a therapist and have found it’s super common for parents to do this). Kids actually learn a lot of important skills from falling. It’s hard for parents to see it happen, but baby will be a better sitter, crawler, and eventual walker if they realize “ouch! It doesn’t feel so good to fall over without catching myself.” Obviously we don’t want baby falling over on hardwood floors all day so definitely get some floor mats but you don’t have to go crazy with all the fancy padding you can find

This thing is huge and easy to pack away. You can get the padded mat to go in it! It’s great for indoors and outdoors!

The website that sells this is usually cheaper than Amazon as they often have sales.

We bought baby gates that look like this. I think the same brand actually but it's been a while. We bought a few and made a big area that took up most of the living room to give her a lot of space to play away from the dogs. We also bought those foam letters mat from target since we also have hardwood floors. Worked well for us. More versatile than an actual play pen in my opinion
