If I stopped breastfeeding can I start back up?

My milk supply went down a lot in the beginning of December and because I had to give my baby more formula I wouldn’t breastfeed a often. Now my milk supply is super low and I’m wondering if I do want to start back up, is that possible? Am I able to get my milk supply back up after it’s decreased so much to where I’m making barely an ounce? I’m so sad I let my milk supply get this low.

Yes you can! Let baby be on the breast as much as you can and it will signal to your body to start producing more.

Latch babe as much as possible as often as they want before giving any formula. You may have to get a pump and start power pumping in between feeds. At this point you need to re-tell your body it needs to produce more milk. It's not impossible but it is hard work. Reach out to a lactation consultant. You can go through the hospital or place where you gave birth. Le Leche League is a great resource for breast feeding and finding consultants near you

Yes. But you have to get baby to latch often. Like clusterfeeding. A lot. The more baby tries, the more you get out of it. But at first it is hard, because there is not much and baby might fuss.
