How many words at 16 months?

My little guys has done great with his milestones up until this point in time. Just wondering if any other mamas have pursued early intervention for speech. He says mama and dada. Will attempt “up” “more” and “bubble” and signs for “all done, more, and book” he has said “night” on two occasions at bed time, and is saying “giraffe” of all things because it’s his new favorite animal.

His receptive language is great! He follows directions, understands a lot of wh questions, and in general there is not a lapse in communication, just a lack in actual speech output. He does not have a history of ear infections. We narrate everything about his day, give him plenty of opportunity to pause and let him attempt words, he uses signs, we limit screen time, and do a lot of play and book reading.
