Feel like a superhero
On January 2nd at midnight (37 weeks and 6 days, baby number 2) I got up to go pee and when I sat on the toilet I felt a pop. I told my husband it was time to head to the hospital (my water broke with my first too and it took 8 hours for me to deliver my daughter). My husband got up and started packing his hospital bag in a panic, meanwhile I’m calm as can be because we have time. We left for the hospital, on the way there my water didn’t leak at all and I wasn’t having bad contractions yet. Checking in my water started leaking and contractions started to hurt. We got checked in and up to the room by 12:50am, I was checked when I got up and the nurse couldn’t find my cervix so she called in another one and she said I was 5cm dilated (when I was 36 weeks I was 4cm dilated). A few minutes later the epidural lady finally came in and was asking me questions well I was getting blood taken and my iv put in…well I said “I feel like I have to poop”😅…the first nurse that couldn’t find my cervix checked me again and said she couldn’t find it again and she was going to call in the doctor to see…he came in checked me and told me it was time to start pushing…I told him I didn’t want to push without the epidural and was told it wouldn’t do anything at this point. I was not prepared mentally to give birth with no pain killer. At 1:40am my son was born weighing 7 pounds 11oz, it was the worst pain I have ever felt but I would do it all over again. I feel like a super woman for doing it without the epidural. I don’t think my hospital sees a lot of births without the epidural because every time they switched shifts they would always tell each other that I did it unmediated.
