First shoes

Does anything have any recommendations for first walking shoes.

My son is about to turn one and is starting to walk. We've had a hard time finding shoes that are easy to get on him and stay on (he has chunky feet) . We are going on vacation next month and I'm hoping we can find him shoes to use then. He's like a size 4-5 now
