I think they should be normal. I try to do one once every couple months just to see if we’re still on the same page or if he has anything he wants to communicate to me and vise versa. We also do check ins after sex every now and then as well which always keeps our sex life fun and exciting. I definitely think they should be normal, just not too frequent.

Yes. They are normal.
I tried this with my ex and considered it our way of coming together (making time) at least once a week to just talk. No matter what it was or to revisit an issue that we needed time to cool off from.
It's not weird. Everyone is different and every relationship is different.

I don’t understand the relationship check in. My hubs used to tel me when he would leave or when he got home so I knew he was safe. Other than that I didn’t care what he did when he did it. He would tell me good morning or good night but I didn’t expect him to check in. I feel like that’s a bit controlling.

I’d say normal! Once a month or so my bf will ask me if I’m happy and if theirs anything he could be doing differently. Some times life is just so busy we don’t really get time for us and it’s nice to take some time to talk about how things are going.

Not sure exactly what you mean but communication is key to a successful committed relationship. Making sure you're both on the same page about things is always a good idea and can be super helpful.
