Did you decide how many kids you wanted

Question

Assuming you got to choose your ideal family size and didn't face any medical problems, how did you decide the number of kids you wanted? 
Did you use logic and weigh the pros and cons?  Did you go with your intuition and what felt right? 
My husband and I are on the fence about having a third;  two is easier, but I'm one of three and liked having two siblings.

I heard someone say something on tik tok and it has changed the way I think about it. Picture your thanksgiving table in 10-15 years. Is your table full with the amount of kids you have now? Or does it feel like someone may be missing?

I don't want to have kids I can't afford. We used our brains and stopped at 3 even though I would love 10.

My husband and I originally wanted 3 before we had started our family. After 2 rough pregnancies and deliveries we were thinking we would be good with 2.
For the whole year up until our youngest turned 1 we debated back and forth if we were done or if we would still go for a 3rd. Our final talk on this was that we would revisit the conversation in July 2022 to see where we were at financially and if we thought we could handle another child. Well we didn’t quite make it to July lol we are pregnant with our 3rd due Aug 2022 with a complete surprise baby! I guess we were meant to have 3 😅

With my heart, because how can you really logically explain wanting to have more children? It doesnt make much sense logically to want a big family....or even to want children at all, they take your time and money and energy and resources with little in return, why even do this, if you really think about it. Family isnt about logic, it's about love. Yes you need to be able to provide their basic needs, but when you really examine needs vs wants/ease, kids dont really *need* much. If you cannot afford their food, diapers, daycare etc that's obviously a different consideration. But beyond that, I say, have as many as you want. If you want 1 and your heart is full and doesnt want more, have 1. If you want 6, have 6, even if you cant justify why with reasoning.

Always a chance it won’t work out. 
We had two. Then 4 losses. Looks like our hearts and heads won’t get the number of children we wanted. Sometimes nature just decided for you.

Didn't want any kids, then we had our first. Then came our second. Now I'm pregnant with our 3rd. I love watching the siblings together. I only had a sister and we didn't get along much and still struggle.
If my body could handle it I'd have 4-6 easily but sadly this will have to be our last

I am the eldest of 3, and would like 3 children myself. I am currently pregnant with my second. I guess I've always had a fascination with having 3 kids because my mom and dad had three, both my dads sisters had 3, and so on.

Ugh we are going through this now too! I always thought I just wanted two…two girls to be exact! And that’s exactly what I have now… but my husband wants a 3rd. Originally I thought he was insane, but now I’m 50/50. 
I don’t know how I would handle 3 as a full time working mom with a demanding job. It will be expensive..I was hoping my daycare days were almost done! If I have another in daycare there goes the pool I was going to start saving for :(.. will my other two suffer because I’m stretched thin?
But…I love my girls sooo much and I can imagine another little babe fitting right in. We would have a full table. My husband is an only child and my sister has a severe brain injury from an accident, so once we are gone the kids will only have each other as family, no cousins on either side.
So much to think about

I have 2 and would love 1 more. But I have pcos so it’s not like I can get pregnant whenever I want.
