What would you do???

Question

So yesterday I had to go for a growth scan after having glucose in a urine sample for the third time on Tuesday, all 3 diabetes/syrup tests came back fine and yesterdays urine sample had no glucose!
I’m being induced tomorrow as baby is, apparently 9lbs ++!!! 
My question is…. Would you try and labour or go straight for c section?! They’ve said I can chose either.
I’d really like to labour myself but family and friends and partner are literally all saying c section! The midwife’s only concern was the shoulders getting stuck but said it was unlikely as abdomen measurements were in 88 percentile, it’s her legs that are 97 percentile!

Scans can be significantly inaccurate. My baby was measuring 9lb 1oz at 39 weeks. Some of her body measurements were actually off the ends of the chart. I went into labour at 41 weeks so by rights she should have been over 10lbs. She was born 8lb 9oz.

I had to have extra scans with my son because he was measuring big and they said he would be 10lbs plus! He was born at 40+6 and was 7lb13 so I honestly would take that with a pinch of salt. And dont let that put you off labouring naturally because they can be so off with sizing xx

I also found that the growth scans weren't accurate for me. I've never had a C-section, but my personal preference would be to labour naturally, if it's a choice. I had a some concerns with my placenta during my pregnancy and was told a may need a section - I hated the idea and luckily I didn't need to in the end. I think you need to do what feels right for you. It also might be worth thinking about any future pregnancies, as if you have a c-section, it's often the case that you do the same for subsequent births.

Everyone I know has not had babies as big as the scam has made out them be. I personally would go for the vaginal birth if there was no specific reason to have a c-section. But you have to choose what is right for you! Don’t let anyone else decide or persuade you different. It is class as major surgery, it will affect you for weeks after not anyone else. What ever your choice you will be amazing but don’t do it for other people 😊

If you want to labour yourself then go for that decision. Don’t be influenced by your family if yourself and the doctors are happy with that. It’s your baby and your labour :)

If you'd like to labour yourself and your healthcare professionals are advising that it's safe to do so, then I'd go with what feels right for you. Especially as scans aren't that accurate, so it might not be a problem. My baby was born the day after a scan and came out a pound less than estimated. Of course that could also go the other direction..!
