Stressed

I’m due to move into my new apartment on February 8th and the lease for my current apartment was due to end on January 22nd. My

S/O spoke to our current property management about paying prorated rent from January 23rd to February 8th and we came to an agreement more than 60 days in advance of my lease’s expiration date. I paid $994 for my January rent (the full month). Yesterday I received a bill of $2,556 for the eight days in February. I immediately went to the office to dispute it and they told me that the amount of $2,500 is wrong but I would have to pay $900 to stay for eight days in February. They didn’t tell me of that amount prior to me making plans to move to the new apartment In February. I can’t even move into the new apartment a little bit earlier because someone is currently occupying the apartment and there’s scheduled cleaning the week after. I’m 16 weeks pregnant and I already have to pay an extra $250 a month for my insurance because my deductible is high.

I asked my current leasing office what would happen if I don’t stay for anytime in February and they told me they can only push back to my original lease expiration date and refund me $300 of the $994 that I paid. This stresses me out because now I have to move by January 22nd and find a place to live for the 17 days until I’m able to move into my new apartment.

My parents live eight hours away so I can’t even stay with them for those two weeks because my s/o and I have to go into the office every day for work.
