Weaning and sleeping help

Hi, my son is 18 months old and we are starting to wean now because I want him to be completely weaned by 2. Anyway, he doesn’t go to sleep unless he is nursing and I have been letting him nurse for a little bit now he’s not going to sleep so I stop because after a while my nipples will get irritated. Any advice on how I can get him to nap and fall asleep at night without nursing? I don’t wanna do pacifiers or a bottle as he is 18 months old but he is fighting me so hard on taking naps and sleeping. It always ends up with him crying for a while which is very frustrating for the both of us. We were bed sharing but I recently pushed his toddler bed against mine so I can start getting sleep at night again so he is right next to me still but it’s just been so hard to get him to sleep 😫
