PCOS and Celiac Disease

After three years without success I took a step back and started all over. I attended a doctor appointment with a new primary physician. During the appointment we talked about the basics of my health, which were my asthma and my IBS.

I was prescribed Montelukast to help with my allergies and asthma. I lost a few pounds of water weight with the Montelukast. It turns out my asthma and allergies weren't being properly treated. The weight loss was a result of the decrease inflammation.

This physician was the first to suggest I have Celiac Disease in conjunction with the PCOS.

We had my blood drawn for a Celiac Disease Panel through LabCorp. The results were positive. Removing gluten and soy from my diet resulted in a 15 pound weight loss, which again was caused by a reduction in inflammation.

Finally, I adopted a low-carbohydrate diet. I experienced yet another decrease in weight and inflammation. Within a month of this new diet I had a full, healthy period for the first time in my life without the help of medication.

I'm excited, because I feel like for the first time in this process I may be successful. Here is to hoping!
