Does it hurt ?

I know this seems minuscule in the big picture of birth and pregnancy but do cervical checks hurt? I have been having contractions this whole past week and Monday I have my 38 week app . I want to ask my midwife to check to see if I’m dilated but I’m in so much pain right now that I don’t want to experience any unnecessary  pain! This is my second child but my water broke so suddenly at 35 weeks I didn’t get t this point !

Mine haven't hurt but when my cervix is "high" the doc will use his other hand to press on my belly to "push baby down" so they can reach better. And that can be a little uncomfortable.

Honestly to me it doesn’t hurt at ALL. There is a bit of pressure, but no pain associated. This is my second baby and I’ve had two checks so far.

I was checked several times while I was in the hospital when I was induced with my last baby and it hurt so much for me. I was scared to try to push the baby out when just that caused so much pain.

I’m 36 weeks and got check a couple days ago. It was a little painful and uncomfortable for me. The best way I could describe it is kind of like a tampon that’s a bit to large for you being shoved up there for a second.

I didn’t find it painful but I’ve never felt my own cervix before so I was taken by surprise at how far back it was when they did checks whilst I was in labour 🤣

I have had 3 so far, the first and third didn't hurt but were uncomfortable. The second one I got done at the hospital rather than my OB and it was really painful, I almost cried. She was not gentle at all.

I don’t think it hurts necessarily but definitely uncomfortable & like a feeling of “can you hurry the hell up & get your arm out” lol

It's uncomfortable but tolerable to me. I had a check on Wed. and cervix is closed (currently 38 weeks 1 day). I don't tolerate pain well and will be getting an epidural first thing at the hospital lol.

They are definitely uncomfortable! When I went in at 36 weeks, I was 1cm dilated and it wasn’t that painful but when I went in yesterday at 37 weeks, the doctor said I was closed and it was more uncomfortable than the week before. I guess it just depends on the person but I just find them uncomfortable.
