Right Choice (for us)

Hi everyone!

First, thank you so much for taking the time to read my novel below. My biggest hope is that I can connect a bit with someone on here about donor egg IVF. I’ve heard there are many support groups on FB, but I deleted my FB account with someone took pictures off (of my child) my account and acted like they were hers.

I was previously married and told I couldn’t get pregnant. We did a cycle of fresh donor egg IVF. It failed. The doctor said he didn’t think the donor was viable after all. Horrible experience. My ex husband cheated soon after and we divorced.

A few years later I met my now husband. Really early into our relationship I told him I couldn’t get pregnant. He wasn’t bothered by it and said there would be other ways to start a family.

We got engaged years later, and weeks later I felt sick. After buying my wedding dress, I took a test just because I felt so off. Lo and behold I was pregnant! We got married (the original plan) and I gave birth 11 days later.

We tried to get pregnant naturally for about 1.5 years, then went to a new fertility clinic (the one I went to with my ex was all kinds of horrible) wanting to go straight to donor egg IVF. Our RE wanted us to try IUI. We did 3 rounds, all failed.

Now we’re back to egg donor IVF. We know it’s the right choice for us. I truly believe that although it’s not my egg, it’s 100% my baby.

My questions/concerns:

1. Has anyone used donor egg IVF for their second child? I know it sounds ridiculous, but I want to make sure BOTH of my children feel equal love from me. Does that fear/thought leave once you have your baby?

2. We are only interested in having one more child. We’re leaning towards doing a frozen cycle. Any input on fresh vs. Frozen? (Our clinic has a day 5 guarantee with frozen)

3. Did you tell anyone about using a donor egg? We’ve kept our plans pretty secret and I’d prefer not telling anyone- but did you feel you needed someone other than your partner to confide in?

4. Do you plan to tell your child about the donor at some point? Do you know when if so?

5. Is there anything, for those of you who have already used a donor, that you would recommend to someone beginning the donor process?

Thank you so much for your help and support!! Very hopeful 2022 is our year ladies! ❤️
